Las Vegas Market Report

Did you hit Las Vegas Market last month? Word is that the show was expected to be one of the strongest in the past decade, with over 96% occupancy adding up to almost two million (!) square feet of showrooms and new products.  It apparently lived up to the forecast, with LasVegasMarket.com reporting record-breaking gains in both attendance (up over 20%) and exhibitors.

What were some intriguing trends? According to Furniture|Today, suppliers said that reaction was positive to unusual materials for dining table tops, creative mixing of materials to keep a cohesive look while cutting cost, and a return to the “farmhouse” look of old where a variety of chairs were used at the table.  Table tops—for both dining and occasional tables—were seen in a number of unusual materials such as concrete, blue stone, etched zinc, and little-known woods.

Upholstery was also strutting its stuff with an abundance of color both in fabric and leather.  Many manufacturers were seen offering pieces in assorted sizes from smaller scale sofas and chairs to bring style to more compact spaces all the way up to massive sectionals made for the whole family to snuggle into.

And did you get the word that the Interior Design Camp will be held this July in conjunction with the summer Las Vegas Market?  Held in multiple locations last year, this year the only one will be at Las Vegas Market and promises to “reveal how to thrive and excel in today’s economy” according to co-host celebrity interior designer Kelli Ellis.  Plan to come away inspired!

What did you see that intrigued you at Las Vegas Market?
